Golden State Stars Softball News

It is a great honor to announce where the senior pitchers and catchers of Golden State Stars Softball will be attending college this fall of 2013.
MOLLY HUTCHINSON
Molly has signed with North Carolina State which is located in Raleigh, NC. Molly is a senior catcher at Steele Canyon High School. NCS is a NCAA Div I university that plays in the ACC. She has been with Golden State Stars Softball since she was 10 years old.
SHELLEY PROCTER
Shelley has signed Long Island University which is located in Brooklyn, NY. She is a senior pitcher for Carlsbad High School. LIU is a NCAA Div I university that plays in the Northeastern Conference. She has been with Golden State Stars Softball since she was 11.
KYLIE STEAGALL
Kylie signed with Christan Brother University which is located in Memphis, TN. She is a senior pitcher for Steele Canyon High School. CBU is a NCAA Div II university which plays in the Gulf South Coast Conference. Kylie has been with Gold State Stars Softball since she was 14 years old.
SARAH NICKS
Sarah has signed with Minot State University which is located in Minot, ND. She is a senior catcher for Grossmont High School. MU is a NCAA Div II university which plays in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Sarah has been with Golden State Stars Softball since her sophomore year of high school.
Congratulations on a job well done. Having fun playing softball is a wonderful way to obtain your education is while attending college. Good Luck!!

Golden State Stars Characteristics of Leaders: #1 – Persistently Positive Attitude

PERSISTENTLY POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Stars Leaders are continually optimistic and provide a guiding force not in rough times, rather ESPECIALLY in rough times.

Stars Leaders always have the goal in mind and know which direction to go to achieve that goal.

Stars Leaders effectively deal with adversity and failures. They understand that adversity and failures are not barriers to success, but use adversity and failures are stepping stones to success.

Teaching Athletes the Golden State Stars Characteristics of Leaders

In order to further the well-rounded education of our athletes, we are introducing the Golden State Stars Leadership Characteristics to create leaders on and off the field. In keeping in line with our teaching philosophy at Golden State Sports Training, we want to educate our athletes beyond sports skills. We want our athletes to not only be successful athletes, but to also be leaders.

The majority of the credit for compiling the 6 characteristics in the Star Leadership Characteristics is based on the book, Good Business authored by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Professor of Psychology at Claremont Graduate University in California. Additional information is from the book, The Leadership Challenge, by Kouzes and Posner, and lastly, The Blue Angels of the United States Navy.
